Memory

I remember during college listening to a British foreign correspondent talk at length about the European Union and I remember reading that certain nations were indebted — or to put it differently, they ran a deficit.

This was common to find out. This sort of thing should not be as big a deal going forward. There should be a certain hidden nature to how these nations spend their money, so that their people can live and prosper and multiply.

The financial equation is secondary if not tertiary or father down on the list of priorities to address.

I think we should talk more about fixing up the place, rather than talking about how much it owes, how much it has fallen from what it once was.

That sort of talk is beneficial as a preface to what really matters, which is to address the people’s malaise and fears.

For example, if you ask a tourist what they want from, say, Paris or Milan as a destination.

Tourists want order, cleanliness and hospitality.

Young people could be put to work to ensure order, safety and cleanliness, rather than taking to the streets to fight the system and only making matters worse for the whole enterprise.
