“AI and Its Application” is meant to introduce Applied AI, which does not necessarily mean the creation a new application.

It is much like applied mathematics or applied science. It is not an application but its application.

The use-case for AI is much greater when you think in this frame-of-mind rather than thinking their will be some new app that is standalone.

I can think of many use-cases, all the time, if I think about Applied AI.

For example, a button on the dash of your rental car to allow you to ask, “How do I recline my seat and how do I move it back?”

Or, “How do I connect my phone via Bluetooth?”

I rented a car recently and was presented a vehicle in pristine condition; However, the person handing me the keys did not tell me how to operate the car any more than hit this button for the ignition and drive as usual.
